Fex is producer/musician/all-round bass maniac Frank E Xavier, he of former fine outings on Thunk Recordings and all-important one-third of the highly acclaimed Infusion, and Melbourne-based horror film fan drawing from years of late night b-grade movie study.
A former touring DJ lynched in for superior scratching abilities, he was quickly recruited to Infusion as an equal production member; controlling the direction of the trio's dynamic live show via his beloved Akai MPC2000xl, and unleashing the Infusion singles Flinch, Spike, Starwater (Its Alright), On The Outside and the album Phrases and Numbers to international acclaim.
His first solo effort appeared on the 2-800 Thunk cd compilation (Georgia), later as part of the Dillon Street Rangers, and then finally released two Eps on Thunk - Tar & Her Fingers Could See/Bad Dreams. Both releases on the "fuck, that's loud" side of bass-heavy, the tracks scared minors off dance floors everywhere; as driving, minimalistic, goth-inspired science fiction stormers tend to do.
Climbing to no. 2 on the Balance Promote chart brought Tar it's deserved acclaim, and the later released menace of Her Fingers Could See/Bad Dreams saw chart positions by Timo Maas and Lucien Foort; and a rather rare opportunity of co-writing and producing Adam Freeland's forthcoming long-player bomb with fellow Infusion-ite Jamie Stevens.
Forthcoming Fex releases also include 2 12"s scheduled for release on Marine Parade, the romantic-tinged I Want Your Heart and Stricken Roots leading the way scheduled for late 2003.
An individual inspired by equal parts horror film, science fiction, bad electro-80's, groove, metal slicing and op shop clothes; with a soft-side but uncompromising history, Fex releases are thrown up through these, with a promise of more to be ladled out in 2002. Lock up your teenagers...
